This is a blog that represents my training wheels in Venture Capital. As a long-time entrepreneur, I've always wondered what the other side of the table was like and I got my chance with a fellowship with a venture capital firm!

My entrepreneurship chops were gained both in media companies and then my own company, a consumer goods/retail/ecomm company in the parenting space. I realized that creating a fund is much like creating a retail store--thinking through what goes in and what doesn't and why. For years (especially in the gear space) I've been asking vendors: Great, you have a new stroller. What makes it better, different and necessary to the market. Is this product just another of the same with your branding or is there a functional difference that will peel people from other solutions to yours? We have long been known in the baby/child space of curating our selection to what we think is a 'best of' where everything is the best pick for a certain, definable market segment. 

So with the same sort of buyer's eye, I am trying out what I learn in my fellowship by first focusing on the parenting space, to test my knowledge, create a strategy and put it to work!

As a visitor here, you are now privy to my journey! Feel free to opine or advise, ask questions. I can't say I'll know the answer, but I appreciate any thoughts or POV from anyone who stumbles upon this passion project LOL! I hope I can use this template with thinking through the parenting sector to use for other sectors of interest.
